Welcome! If you're here you may be queer, or at least curious about all things lesbian. I myself am a lesbian, engaged to be married to a lovely lady in August of this year. Part of my motivation for writing this blog is to share my experience of being a lesbian in all its ups and downs, and planning a big lesbian wedding. I also want to share the bits and pieces of lesbian life that are often a bit hard to find. Things you can expect to find here include: lesbian film reviews; good lesbian films are few and far between and all of my hours desperately trying to find a good plot, with good actors and a nice story won't go to waste on just little old me. Also expect to find lesbian books, television shows, music, general pop culture and celebrity crushing of the present and past. LGBT politics and how they affect us with a particular look at being an LGBT in Denver, CO and the misuse of religion to hurt people like me. I will also throw in the occasional reflection on living as a lesbian, what it means, what it feels like and the resources out there that help.
As for the title, the deep and secret yes is a line out of a book called Tinkers by Paul Harding. It is not a lesbian book, but the phrase I think is quite beautiful and I have appropriated it for my purposes here.
I didn't know I was a lesbian until I was twenty-two years old, for some I know it doesn't happen till much later, for others it happened at four. As that realization was falling into place for me it was indeed a deep and secret yes. The rate, way, time and place that one discovers their sexual orientation is so varied and diverse. It's a complicated business full of longing, frustration, fear, and anxiety. But, for me it was also a time of pure joy, freedom and love. No matter where you are, or how you identify, you are welcome here.
